A. O. Smith Launches Voltex® Max: New High-Efficiency Residential Heat Pump Water Heater

On July 17, 2024, A. O. Smith, a well-known leader in the water heating industry, introduced the Voltex® MAX hybrid electric heat pump water heater. This new model reflects their commitment to providing ultra-efficient and eco-friendly products.

Some of the premium features include:

  • High First Hour Rating
  • Leak Detection
  • Hot Water + Modes
  • iCOMM™ Connectivity Platform

The Voltex MAX delivers about 40% more hot water in the first hour compared to other electric water heaters of similar size. For example, the 80-gallon model has a First Hour Rating of up to 95 gallons, ensuring ample hot water for households.

The unit features integrated leak detection, which alerts homeowners in the event of a leak, providing peace of mind.

With smart valve technology, contractors can install a smaller tank in tight spaces without compromising performance. Homeowners can also customize their hot water settings to suit their needs, thanks to three different Hot Water + modes, each offering about 10% more hot water. For periods of high demand, the unit includes a Guest Mode that boosts hot water output for up to seven days.

All Voltex MAX models are equipped with A. O. Smith’s iCOMM™ connectivity platform, which offers advanced features like leak detection and a smart anode that adapts to local water conditions to prolong the heater’s life. If a leak is detected, the smart sensor alerts homeowners via a mobile app and automatically shuts off the water to prevent damage.

The Voltex MAX water heaters are available in tank sizes ranging from 40 to 80 gallons and come with a 10-year warranty. All models are Energy Star approved, and with a maximum UEF of 3.88, they can save homeowners up to $600 per year on operating costs compared to standard electric water heaters of similar capacity.

In addition to its premium, commercial-grade features, the Voltex MAX also offers advanced tank protection, sediment-cleaning technology, whisper-quiet operation at 45 dBA, a flexible design with top water connections, and the ability to notify you if something goes wrong.
